Verizon “Droid” to debut, dubbed as iPhone Killer
Verizon late last week issued a direct challenge to the iPhone with the launch of its advertising campaign for the Motorola Droid, the carrier’s first smartphone based on Google’s open source Android platform.
This is a WAR !!!
So, with this new announcement by Verizon Wireless about rolling out a wholly new smartphone fuelled by Google ANDROID 2.0 “ECLAIR” and Manufactured by Motorola in the market around the end of this month has captured almost every other market watcher’s attention this week.
Day back, we posted about some of the new features and changes available in the latest to be released version of very known Google’s Mobile Operating System ANDROID 2.0 “ECLAIR” which were leaked via known resources at BOYGENIUSREPORT.
Also, Droid ad from Verizon Wireless, at droiddoes.com, sends viewers to another Web site with Motorola’s name in it. The ad touts what the Droid does and iPhone doesn’t: take night photos, run widgets, allow customization, have replaceable batteries, and include a keyboard, the ad says. (Spooky, ain’t it?)
Watch the talk of the town, “iDon’t but Droid does” Ad below:
the Droid runs on the TI OMAP 3430 processor, one of the top processors on the market. All indications are the Droid will exploit the processor’s potential to the fullest, as Verizon is touting the device’s ability to run simultaneous applications as one of its key features. In addition to its application-switching capabilities, the TI OMAP 3430 is also a very fast processor. The Boy Genius Report says that the processor has made the Droid “the fastest Android device we’ve ever used.”
According to the reports, the Droid will include a full QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel digital camera, Wi-Fi, an interchangeable battery, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, and a 854×480 touchscreen.
