Microsoft has released a tool for T-Mobile Sidekick users that aims to help them recover lost personal data from their mobile devices as both companies undergo a massive effort to repair a database glitch.

At least, after more than week and a half the news broke about some glitch in the DANGER inc cloud servers, which generated a wave of panic among the T-Mobile SideKick users who lost their data due to the fault.

This tool will restore contacts only, but Microsoft said in a statement that it is working on retrieving photos, notes, and other data as well.

Affected Sidekick owners can now log into their My T-Mobile account and download the recovery tool. Microsoft’s fix will allow phone owners to recover information on their phone dating back to October 1.

A well known source also indicated that “the glitch at the site, happened due to a sudden power outage that caused an unknown number of Sidekick owners to lose text messages, photos, contacts, and other information on the phone. “
