Microhoo or YahSoft, bracing up to face the Ultimate Truth
First of all, i couldnt resist myself in using such a post title – “Microhoo or YahSoft, bracing up to face the Ultimate Truth” after realizing the development currently taking place around the SanFfrancisco City via Reuters resources.
It came as a shock for all of “www”, about the hostile bid of Microsoft of taking over competitor yahoo in a whole. some sigh’ed it as a Nuisance step, some praised the effort.
Well, now as we progress further in this world where GOOGLE is far more powerful or simplly the market leader in most of the “www” applications and services(e.g – Advertising, marketing, web apps, sevices etc).
It is indeed natural to feel the threat of google becoming a SuperPower in the field where Microsoft and Yahoo were the FrontRunner first. Enough Said, So the talk of the town is “Microsoft and Yahoo are talking big about a JV(Joint Venture) or simplly The two technology giants are said to be close to finalizing a search advertising deal, according to AllThingsD”.
Well,The news was first reported by the AllThingsDigital blog, which said a deal would involve Microsoft paying Yahoo several billion dollars upfront to take over its search advertising business and guarantee certain payments back to Yahoo.
As Mentioned in an article over Reuters “Microsoft withdrew its $47.5 billion offer to buy Yahoo in May 2008 after Yahoo’s board said the price was too low. The software giant then offered to buy Yahoo’s search advertising assets for $1 billion upfront, and guarantee $2.3 billion in annual revenue for five years, in a proposal backed by Icahn.”
Icahn declined to comment on the state of any negotiations between Yahoo and Microsoft. He had tried to broker a partnership between the two companies last year, when talks on Microsoft’s $47.5 billion takeover bid for Yahoo fell apart.
“I’ve been a strong advocate of getting a search deal done with Microsoft,” Icahn, who owns about 5 percent of Yahoo and is a director on its board, told Reuters on Friday.
As far as the statistics are concerned,Google is the dominant player in the search market, with a 65 percent market share in June, according to comScore. Yahoo was second with 19.6 percent, while Microsoft was third with 8.4 percent. While Microsoft’s share remains small, its new search engine Bing has won positive early reviews.
With Google dominating the Search business nearly everywhere, the news of a JV between Microsoft and Yahoo must not fear the “Big Daddy”.
Indeed, the Ultimate truth is, Google is Ruling the web 2.0 nearly in every aspect and what Microsoft, yahoo or any other firm needs is a simple solution to take advantage of this web 2.0 phase which is not here for Much long.
